Our Story
Founded
Founded in 2006 in Syria, The Elegant House began with a vision: to blend timeless craftsmanship with thoughtful design. Under the hands of founder and master craftsman Yaser Alrifai and his brothers, the business quickly earned a reputation for quality, integrity, and bespoke furniture pieces made entirely from scratch.
Disrupted
When conflict disrupted our home and our work in 2011, the doors of our original workshop were closed — but not forever. What followed was a journey of resilience: first to Jordan, where Yaser continued his craft, then to the UK in 2015, where the seeds of our rebirth were quietly planted.

Re-established
In 2019, The Elegant House was re-established in Witney, Oxfordshire — built again from the ground up, this time with a new partner: Yaser Alrifai’s son, Zuher Alrifai, who brought design, digital, and media into the family craft. Today, we continue as a family business, rooted in tradition, guided by care, and always creating with purpose.
